CHRISTIANSTED, Virgin Islands–(BUSINESS WIRE)–Lifeline Pharmaceuticals, LLC donated $3,000 earlier this month through its sister company, Lifeline Pharmaceuticals Caribbean, LLC, a U.S. Virgin Islands-based company, to Project Triage, a non-profit organization established by Christopher Howell, former Virgin Islands Chief of Police for the district of St. Croix. The donation is expected to fund the purchase of 50 trauma management packs (TMP) to be issued to VIPD officers.

“Lifeline Pharmaceuticals is a critical partner in the daily efforts of physicians to heal people across America”

In August 2012, Chief Howell and his partner were seriously wounded by criminals wielding high-powered weapons in a shootout after responding to a burglary call in Cane Bay. Luckily, Howell had purchased several TMP’S at a conference just months prior to this incident. While Chief Howell’s injuries would have most certainly resulted in death before EMS could respond to the scene, it is widely accepted among doctors that the self-applied use of a TMP saved Chief Howell’s life.

“Lifeline Pharmaceuticals is a critical partner in the daily efforts of physicians to heal people across America,” said Rick Nielsen, owner of Lifeline Pharmaceuticals and native of St. Croix. “So when we heard about this amazing trauma kit being used to save a life in an incident that I clearly remembered, I immediately knew that we wanted to support Chief Howell’s efforts to keep our VIPD officers safe. I sincerely hope that others will join us in this effort to fund what is clearly a necessity for all VIPD officers,” concluded Nielsen.

Chief Howell, who after six surgeries is still undergoing therapy and is expected to undergo additional surgeries, was grateful for Lifeline’s donation to Project Triage. “I’m grateful to Lifeline for this much-needed donation. Their donation puts 50 more TMP’s into the hands of our brave officers and helps to ensure that these critical, life-saving kits are always nearby.”
